The biggest misconception is that building in Costa Rica is cheap. Granted, it is less than in North America, but most, if not all, building materials are imported into Costa Rica. This increases prices and, in some cases, raises them more than North America.
Another misconception is that even though wages are low, this will keep the project's cost down. Indeed, the wages in Costa Rica are lower than in North America. Still, you must remember you are also working with uneducated and unskilled individuals who may be inefficient in their work. This always leads to work being redone, costing more in time and materials.
